Added:
—Dropping bombs from higher up scores more points. (Granting @hikoki his wish.)
—Prop blade “rotation” (well, shimmer, actually) added. Doesn’t look too great under most emulators (when they sync the Speccy’s video to the display’s vertical refresh rate; i.e. 50 Hz vs 60 Hz). Works okay-ish in Retro Virtual Machine, as it offers “interlaced blending.” I’d love to hear some feedback on what it looks like on real hardware.
Improvements:
—Airplane graphics are all pre-shifted now. The routines execute much faster and the plane flying right to left no longer flickers when the copter is moving at the same time.
Fixes:
—A couple of instances of a “runaway stack” (CALLS without RETs) have been eliminated
—Fixed an extremely intermittent bug that sometimes affected the base sprite as it moved off the left edge of the screen.
—Fixed memory corruption caused by the IM 2 mode (the F register wasn’t being saved).

—Bomb and missile collision detection is much more precise.

—Copter inertia is now applied to bombs. You need to be more accurate than ever when dropping them.

—New (experimental) Turbo Loader. Load the game on real hardware in under 40 seconds!

—Less abrupt life-loss/game-end animations
—New collision detection that favors the player
—Now, in order to win the game, after dropping three bombs on the boss, you must also stay alive for a few seconds
—Attribute clash of the copter sprite reduced by dynamically coloring only the cells occupied by sprite data in each preshifted frame

—Fixed a bug where a failure to land on the last base prevented the end boss from firing missiles

The most notable addition:
—Parallax & perspective shadows! Twice as many sprites plus quite a bit of math, and the game still runs at 50 fps with no flickering!
Other additions and improvements:
—The game now autodetects the Kempston joystick interface and disables it in the menu if not found.
—Stage number slates now appear regardless of whether the player has landed on the base.
—Two new in-game tunes have been added: one before each stage and one before the end-boss fight.
—Added electron beam sync for drawing the gameplay area at the beginning of each stage to avoid screen tearing artifacts.
—The bullet sprite has been slightly changed.
—Code optimization.
Bug fixes:
—A random frame from the plane explosion animation could sometimes remain on the screen.
—A long-standing but extremely rare scoring bug has been addressed.
