Magic Knight - Quadrilogy

Greets friends. :)

I would like to present to you this disk image I made about 3 years ago but forgot all about it. I did show it David Jones (author) at the time and he seemed to like it.

It is all four Magic Knight games in one .dsk:

Finders Keepers / Spellbound / KnightTyme / StormBringer


I am aware there is an "official" Mastertronic disk image of this but the Mastertronic one has some issues, it does not include Stormbringer!

The .dsk image here is a full size 760K image, it has a simple menu and I have used the 128K version of all the three "128 variant" games as well. I have also tested this on a real +3 using a 3.5" internal drive and it works fine! :)

I want to add, there is a built in 'cheat mode' as well for all games ;) :)

Press "Caps Shift + C" on the menu page and you can toggle/turn on+off 'cheat mode' , see the 'Cheat Mode On' in the lower left corner:

Yes it will save to tape still. :) It would be too difficult to setup disk save positions and 'cat' the disk etc reliably.

At the time of "building" the collection to replace the 'original' one I had not really thought about saving :)

To be fair to myself: The 'official' disk version also saves to tape! :D


The 'idea' behind it all was simply to:

1. Have all four (instead of three) games in one disk
2. To have the option of cheating if needed

At the time of "building" the games I did not have that version (or it may of not been release), I looked and I built the disk "15/03/2015" :)

Plus at that time I had no internet so it was all done 'offline' and then I posted it later. :)

Please enjoy it as it is.

The tape save/load : When these games were 'new' I brought them from the computer store (£ 2.99 GBP) but I never used the save/load even on original machines for these back in 1986-1989 :)

"KnightTyme" is the easy game from them all, unless you make an error in "transporter code" :D

My version = 4 games
Official Mastertronic version = 3 games

There is no 'StormBringer' game with the official version.

It is fine if someone wants to make a .scl / .trd of the .dsk :)

I only rarely use 'Pentagon128' / 'Scorpion256' , so am not 100% sure how to use the disk system properly with them.

Yes :( I know!
It does save/load but to tapes.

The 'official' Mastertronic disk/dsk also saves to tape too.

I am not sure there is requirement/need for saving/loading though ?

The Save / Load :

When you are playing the game you must have / hold the 'Gadget X' , then "Read Gadget X" , then you can see the options:

Note: This does not always work! :D

Sometime you must "Examine Something" > "Object" > "Gadget X" > then > "Read Something" > "Gadget X" , I think this is because the +3dos has eaten some of the background 'advert screen' away. But it does not spoil gameplay.

Note that if you try to save to tape it will likely crash though at the moment.

I had never even thought about save / load to disk options at the time. :)

Но без cheat...
В cheat - много изменений
вносится в программу...
Игра с ним - просто сбрасывается...???

ну так вспоминай и делай релизы за которые не стыдно.
можно сделать и раз в год, но достойно. это всяко лучше чем плодить высеры.
если не лежит душа к этой трилогии (я её вообще не понимаю) проходи мимо, не мучайся
или досконально изучи и выложи конфетку
