I don't know much about VMs, I just uploaded what was sent
to me by Mr. Viznyuk <VIZNYUK@MPS.OHIO-STATE.EDU>.
So if you have questions, please ask him.

These fonts are good for VT200-VT300-series terminals
and they do not depend on operating system which controls terminals.
However, the programs we have to load them, work on VAX VMS only.

=================================================

This subdirectory contains a Baby Font Designer
for VAX/VMS-based VT200-VT300-series terminals.

The Baby Font Designer is a convinient tool
for creating a downloadable 8-bit fonts (soft
character sets) for VT200-VT300 series terminals.

To start with, type command RUN FONT. It will
determine the type of terminal you are using and
will run the corresponding program: VT200.EXE,
VT240.EXE, VT320.EXE, or VT330.EXE. If your
terminal is not one of those then the program
FONT.EXE will end up with error. In this case you
may try to run one of those VT***.EXE programs
which seems corresponding to terminal you are on.
For example if you are on VT220 terminal and the
program FONT.EXE kicks you off, you may try to run
VT200.EXE. In this case the fonts may just look
more ugly than those created specifically for
VT220 terminal.

ATTENTION: most emulators of VT200-VT300-series
terminals, like e.g. DECterm in XWindows don't
support downloading soft character sets and
therefore this program may not be compatible with
them.

As a first step, the program will ask you to
load initial, already existing font. All you need
to do is to modify it using the set of commands-
keystrokes listed in Help subtopics. All changes
you make will appear above the displayed pixel
area. After you done save the font in a new file
which name you will be prompted for, either with
a command Write_Font_File or EXIT. The font you
create will remain downloaded in your terminal
after exit from Baby Font Designer. To download
the font without entering Baby Font Designer, use
DCL command TYPE your_Font_File.
