Really? I don't know. I was voting different then the final results but "vox populi - vox dei". Other approach sounds too "totalitarian" to me. I can only accept their choice.
I thing my pic might be much lower, "Stupid by iLKke/pm" should be much higher as it uses pastel colours which are normally NOT at all on Spectrum, so it's unique, also "Green wanderer" was much better than they thought, as I said, also Your joke of the Earth Worm Jim was one of the best. These are only mine opinions.
"Zomberman" and "Grove" are for me equal in technique way, however I was voting for "Grove" (as I mention in my email to its author (some guy not from a group but from Sinclair Club).
Half of guyes were from ZX scene, half was from Atari XL/XE scene, also several people from Commodore64 scene, Atari ST/Falcon, Amstrad, Spectravideo MSX scene and others. They don't know Spectrum limitations, so they voten only what they liked. It's not so bad but there are no Spectrum parties now, in Europe, only mixed 8-bit parties. And the compo also was not only for ZX sceners. People from Amstrad CPC entered the compo with pictures, people from PC scene even, guys from Atari XL, from C64 and others.
Principles were as usual - 19 works, points 1-10 (no zero, no more than 10), everybody MUST vote for ALL pictures (no skip). So nothing unusual. No nicknames on the screen (I know they show nicknames on some compos on Forever but I think it's bad).
For me personally the best was Grove, Zomberman, Stupid by iLKke, Superfrog, Green wanderer.
But I will not change results because I don't like them, it would be far dishonest.
Although I still think that Atarians have no idea about Spectrum gfx possibilities.
So I'm was sorry Your great picture was so low (I suspect that's what You are asking about

), and I agree with You that they don't know what is actually good in our graphic but as I said - this is crap about "merged" 8-bit parties. :-\
