Working out some drawing code, and the bank swapping is killing me. I'm having to copy graphics/code into a buffer, so that I can then change bank and draw into another banked area. Remember I can't use the HW sprites at all, everything is CPU drawn due to the numbers involved....

What would be great, is if we could have a port that would set the bank to be R/W, and a 2 port mode, where one would be for reading, and one would be for writing. This would be a huge aid when dealing with graphics in banked memory...

So it would work much like the Layer 2 screen banked into $0000-$3FFF, where a read would get ROM and a write goes to the RAM.

I understand we're quite a ways in... but...well... 1 paging bank for larger graphics and the 256 colour byte-per-pixel mode is horrible.
