If you mean kempston, then this problem lays somewhere inbetween how emulator works, and how game code is checking if kempson is present.
Solution is to setup kempston on numpad, or use one or both sinclairs.
Of couse, you can use different emulator for Windows, free or commercial. Some support better classic machines, some Russian clones, some have rich GUI, some need a bit of setup to run properly.
Just check and choose what suits you better.
